Edgar Mitchell and the Prophet's Conference in Vancouver

The following abstract is for Dr. Mitchell's Victoria presentation.

 

"Science and the resulting technologies continue to accelerate even

faster than in the 20th century. Human violence toward each other and

nature continues unabated but with ever more sophisticated tools.

Religion in its traditional role has not solved the problem but, rather,

has often contributed to it. The only antidote is a Wisdom Society in

which all have access to the knowledge, values, ethics and morality

which arise from transcendent viewpoints and are manifest by lives lived

more simply and in harmony with Nature. This must arise from the hearts

and minds of people and proceed from the bottom up, as it will not

proceed top down from centers of political power.

 

"Fortunately, science of the 21st century is beginning to successfully

challenge the materialistic assumptions about nature, life and

consciousness upon which Western post-industrial societies are founded,

providing a new synthesis between science, philosophy and theology which

has been

missing for almost 400 years. This presentation will present recent

findings in science which move our knowledge in the direction necessary

for creating a sustainable Wisdom society." - Edgar Mitchell
