Guest guest
Namaste All, On my recent visit to Mexico I was given cause to revisit my earlier days and heros. I noticed that many people had badges, more or less concealed, of Che Guevarra. He was always a hero of my youth, due to his romanticism and committment to what he believed. Even coming up to his being executed by the CIA, he never faltered. I can admire that and his statement that revolutions must be done with love. He is said to have been an atheist yet he read to his guerrillas from the Bible. I often wonder what would have happened to someone who loved the ordinary peasant and was as honest as he was, if he had been exposed to Ramana or someone like that? For he believed literally that some things are worth dying for. It is my belief that he was a step from liberation but didn't have the text book. There are others of course, that is why we are so lucky and to have such good karma to have the opportunity we have......ONS..Tony.
Guest guest
Tony O'Clery [aoclery] There are others of course, that is why we are so lucky and to have such good karma to have the opportunity we have......ONS..Tony. ***************************************** Yes, we are fortunate indeed brother Tony that our life has been such that we have had the opportunity to study the purest teachings. My teacher once said to me while we were walking together, "You are lucky that you have come upon the purest teaching of non-violence." I did not know what he meant. I was 22 and mostly into meditation and spiritual practices and did not give much thought to philosophy and non-violence at all. I often felt that there was no point to all this talk of Ahimsa. My feeling was that one should remain focused and meditate and realize the Self and be done with it! As I got older, gradually, I realized that as inner clarity shines, one does not want to harm life. Self-Realization and the feeling of Ahimsa go hand in hand. Pure Ahimsa is an expression of inner knowledge that we are the same in suffering and in bliss and in being. In some ways, I am more easily touched now by life and people then when I was very young. More than 15 years ago a young female physician, a friend of mine (who worked in an Indian hospital in New Delhi) told me very sadly how she had to discharge this old lady from the hospital. I asked her, "Why are you feeling down about it." My friend explained that the old lady did not want to be discharged. She had no home and no where to go and no one to take care of her. She would be out living on the streets again. She was begging the doctors to not release her from the hospital (where she was at least getting food and shelter)." "What happened!", I asked. The physician explained to me that she had to release the old lady despite her tearful pleas due to the hospital rules. After I heard the heart breaking story, I felt sad and started to cry. Well, that time passed. I realized my helplessness and the immense suffering around us. Many years went by and every time I thought of that old lady that had to be discharged, I would feel sad and tears would start coming again as if I was hearing the story for the first time. One day (14-15 years after the incident) I was talking with my friend (the same physician) who had discharged the old lady. I asked her, "Do you still feel sad about discharging that lady." But my friend had forgotten the whole story! She told me that such cases were so common in her hospital that she could not keep count and remember them. I appreciated her honest and innocent answer. I feel very happy when I hear of people like Mother Theresa and others who are giving their life to serve others. In any county and in any culture those who serve others receive the goodwill and blessings of those that they serve. Such blessings release the sorrows of the mind and bring peace and help in the life journey. Love to all Harsha

How can one realise oneself if one doesn't love all of oneself......ONS.......Tony
