Nimue & Merlyn

(A Duet, to my daughter Elisa)

You cast your spell

it was a spell i taught you to cast upon me

upon my ignorant mortal life

to remind me that love unveils immortality

I long

in your longing i was

I yearn

in your yearning i will be

I submit to your blessed curse

in your submission i am what you seek

I doom myself to a play

the divine play of silt and water into clarity

of being other

of love loving itself not as it is but as it is becoming

disguising myself

as myself discovering myself becoming you

as you

discovering yourself discover yourself becoming me

I look down into my soul

your eyes are the mirror into which i look

your glory rapes my flesh

your passion cauterizes my wounded heart

ravishes my aching longing

quickens my satiated appetite for ever more

I surrender

in humility i accept and yield

I give

in receiving i return what is given

I submit to your blessed curse

a curse that once delivered is always a blessing to receive

I commit myself to you

in your commitment i am becoming myself

disguising myself

revealing myself

as other

as you in meI enter deep into your secret

my secret is the one you hide deep within me

standing naked and frozen

something unspeakable resident in zirconium purity

the thunder tears your disguise

silver lightening shattering tensile fragility

the gentle rains

melting dissolves gently dissolves melting

cursing myselfas me

blessing yourself

as you

disguising usas two

revealing us

as one

Beyond the garden of eden

after the fall of new jerusalem

winds caress the rage

clouds dispense forgiveness

waters wash the wounds

sunlight evaporates the suffering

fire burns the painof separation

searing separation

into unityFrom this holy firea new life arisesto cast this blessed curse again

becoming as it was before the beginning

will be becoming after the ending

transient love becoming higher love neither begins nor endsMira
