come taste and see

(a meditation)

“There is a rose of such vertu....”

-Medieval Lyric

stop and listen, look and see, breathe and feel, taste and know

the desiring to hear a favorite song again for the first time

the longing to go on a sacred pilgrimage to some place other

the craving for the embrace of a loved one who remains distant

the seeking for something familiar or anything as long as it is new

within the silence, beyond what you see, both within and beyond all we know

as a tender mother, with open arms and bright heart, or a loving father

hidden within the profane is the sacred, beyond the sacred, divinity is revealed

hiding in alluring shadows that chase after you calling

silver arms in mysterious shadows dancing in the wind

standing brilliance of glaring foil shining in the beyond

a solitary rose, naked fragrance, tantalizing zirconium glare

calling, awaiting our falling that is our arising awaiting, calling

taste and know, breathe and feel, look and see, stop and listen

come fall within me, come taste and see, come arise beyond me

i fall, my dark one, i arise, my bright one

to you, i come my beloved i come, to you

i come, i taste, i see

the love of my beloved coming

come taste and see
