Guest guest
Greg, a fine Vndist follow up story. I think Tony and possibly Dan, constitutes a sort of rite of passage for non dualists on the net, and most of us fail the test, at least once. (even the even keeled and loving Glo has just fallen. {see recent post}) For me Dan is of a much higher caliber of attainment, and that observation makes him much the more annoying of the two, at least to me. He ought to know better. But there you are, my own personal non-dual bete noire. Can there be a non-dual bete noire? Who's asking? Oh,no. Guest guest
Eric, That reminds me of a story. What Tony calls VNDists I call the Non-dual Police, protecting language from any perceived trace of dualism. The story, Several years ago, we had a satsang at a friend's home. Lovely group of people, sitting, talking, reading, eating frozen yogurt. Some of the attendees were non-dual police officers, avoiding the word "I" (but the word "you" was fine). They would use terms like "this form," or "this one" or "the body/mind." Not only did they avoid the word "I" for themselves, they wanted to make sure that others didn't use it either. Either that, or perform self-inquiry after every locution of "I"! So a bit later, well into the evening, we were speaking about movies. I said that I liked the beautiful movie "Three Seasons," found it romantic, exquisite. One of the police officers, a dear friend, said "WHO liked it?" At that point two things happened. One, I retorted "Who wants to know?" And simultaneously his girlfriend, not a nondual police officer, slapped him playfully in the arm, saying "HONEY!! Don't do that!" Dear Greg, Your story reminds me of something I started doing since Tony started using that phrase of verbal nondualism. When ever I see the word 'vandalism' in the newspaper, I think of Tony's word 'verbal nondualism,' in his shortened form of vndism. And from there vandalism turns into vndism. So I guess I could call them the Non-dual thiefs. Protecting the owner from any perceived traces of property. (even the even keeled and loving Glo has just fallen. {see recent post}) Oh NO! I've fallen and I can get up!!! LOL Actually, I have given myself permission to annoy Tony back once for every ten times his posts annoy me. Being mathematically impaired, sometimes I lose track. Once I convinced someone that I periodically destroy my list image on purpose ( for reasons too esoteric to explain briefly), but then you are far too clever to fall for that one. Tony must have a backyard full of goats, you think? He gets more than just mine. Guest guest
The Non-dual Police Force is a lot larger than I imagined. They are definitely in Colorado and in California as well. My friend heard two people fighting and one actually yelled to the other, "THIS BODY IS VERY ANGRY AT THAT BODY!" Aren't we funny creatures? Somebody's gotta be up there laughing. I can see the angels above writing "LOL ROFL" in the clouds. How very dual of me. - Gregory Goode ; Tuesday, August 21, 2001 2:13 PM Non-dual Police Eric,That reminds me of a story. Guest guest
Hi Mazie, That's also a funny story! I think "VNDism" is a great contribution by Tony to the world of spirituality. It is quite apt, like the Advaita Shuffle and the Lucknow Disease. Thanks! --Greg At 10:25 PM 8/21/01 -0000, sraddha54 wrote: >, Gregory Goode <goode@D...> wrote: >> Eric, >> >> That reminds me of a story.
