Guest guest
Dear Jodi, You wrote: I wouldn't go so far as to say we gain power over Maya. While we may be liberated from Her as ignorance, as individuals we must continue to be worried about cars in the intersection. The liberated don't have any power over these. Then again, the liberated may not care if their bodies perish as the result of a collision with one. How does a liberated one (ahum drive...? Let me tell you how I often catch myself driving my car through city traffic. I do not observe (see) any signs, traffic lights, rules of the road, conventions. The stuff one learns to get a drivers license is not even available to my awareness. I am aware of only tangible things, not symbolic colours and shapes that have to be interpreted. I am very aware of the road, road conditions, my car and myself in the car and other cars, their drivers as human beings. I see other cars as living participants in the play of traffic. I drive totally safe, never have an accident, knowing exactly what each other car does as I weave myself through traffic. I don't even get reacted to (the finger), as what I do is unquestionably right and evident within concrete and actual situations. When I have passengers, if they leave me alone and fully trust in me, I drive as described above. If not, it is different, now they are part of the equation and I drive appropriately. According to their expectations, I obey all the signs and rules, except that I tend to slow down when the lights are green, (as they will soon turn amber) and I speed up when the lights are red as they will invariably turn green quickly. This is very strange and disconcerting for my passengers to observe. I got stopped once though by a traffic cop, who started out by saying that it was a beautiful piece of driving that I just performed (!), (I had turned a left corner against and between traffic). It was as though the world stood still... he had to give me a ticket though. When in court, I found out that he had just written contradictory gibberish on the traffic violation slip, the case did not even to proceed, we had a laugh. Please do not try this at home, I do try to drive as expected, which is only fair, but I find it unsafe... I adjust as needed. About your "the liberated may not care if their bodies perish." Absolutely, I have been through what people usually call "dying" 6 times in my life and have not experienced it to be what people expect it to be. Fear is not part of reality, death is not a state of reality... amrita is, the unconditional and steady state of life. In the steady state of love. Wim --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. When we are close to death, we should remain calm & fix our breath either on the heart or 3d eye. Fixed on the Absolute, our life force attains the final samadhi. Yet .. before this even .. at all times .. this should be our guide. Without balenayoga, it is difficult to remember the Supreme at this moment. If one is fearful or disturbed (not living in amrita, as Wim wrote), our state of mind - the impressions at that moment - will color our next life. Amrita is to not identify with our past actions, but by the direction of Spirit. In this way, we become free from life & death. Om Santi ...
