How do I renounce my ego?

1. We admitted that we were powerless over our egos, that our lives

had always been unmanageable. <<

Hi Paul, once again, I have to say, this resonates with me, and I

loved re-reading the 12 steps in this new context. I am familiar with

AA and AlAnon, having been a member of both upon realizing (in my

adulthood, oddly enough) that I had been surrounded by acting out

alcoholics my entire life. Egotism, like alcoholism, is "catching."

(Fortunately, according to Dharma, kundalina may also be. :::grin:::

)

If you grow up with an alcoholic, it is highly likely that you will

exhibit alcoholic behavior, even if you are not one yourself. Growing

up in an ego-centric culture, I believe the same is true. And without

taking the first step, nothing else is possible. Thank you for the

reminder on both counts. Blessings ~ Linda
