Guest guest
This is beautiful. Perhaps we should raise some money and do a national billboard campaign. (I am actually not joking. I have long thought that as much attention needs to be paid to raising awareness about appropriate parenting as is drawn to any other public health need or problem. Linda, what is appropriate parenting? When one decides one way is appropriate over another, much judgement comes into play... I respect that you wish to help the children.... And this is done, one lovely soul at a time. Not by inciting guilt into those who do not live up to certain standards. Whether that is the intent or not, guilt arises when we do not meet the standards imposed by such campaigning. I myself, while seeing that I am a "good" mother by society standards, do not at times even live up to my standards, and man oh man, can I really lay the guilt trip on myself for failing to do as I "think" I should. This is one area I still work on. I would hesitate to inform anyone how they should parent..... knowing how I feel whenever my neighbors have good intentions of telling me what I'm doing wrong. Just my thoughts, Linda.... One sweet soul at a time, with understanding and love and compassion, can reach deeply in, and changes be made. Love to you.
