Only Degas can make da Van Gogh Baroque (adj.) ~ When you are out of Monet. :::giggle::: Shanti ~ Linda P.S. By the way, for those artists who are interested in seeing really good movies about artists, there is a lovely movie called "Starry Night," the premis of which is that Van Gogh (who never sold a single painting) comes to life in present time. He is completely flabergasted to find that his simple paintings are worth millions apiece. He only has a certain amount of time to be on this plane, so he sets about taking back (stealing) his works. Of course, since he never sold them to anyone, he believes they still belong to him. His goal: to sell them again and set up a fund to help young, starving artists. Great movie. Also, the recent movie, "Pollock," about the life of Jackson Pollock is another jewel, though a bit more tough and less fun since it is based on true events. What interested me at the end was to see in the credits a woman who was named as the Painting Movement Instructor. Fun job, eh Jill? Anyway, Ed Harris' portrayal of Pollock is stunning, and seeing the story of how his work emerged, his relationship with Lee Krasner, also a painter, the inimitable critic Clement Greenberg, and others, kept me glued to my chair. I won't give away any more. Hope some of you will take the bait and watch. Both are available on video (although the local Blockbuster here only had one copy of "Pollock" as opposed to about 25 of "Bring it On"...see why I'm moving to NM?). There is also another gem about an artist I had never heard of. The title is "Basqiete" (not sure of the spelling). Another gem. Okay...couldn't help myself.
