Guest guest
>>Linda, there is another way of conveying the prescription: Life is like a pinball game and whatever you target and shoot, in the end, only you will be hit - because there is only "you". The delay between shooting and being hit (hurt) depends on conditioning or from another perspective, karma. ...Give the "right" example instead... << Thanks Jan...yep, yep. Exactly so. I am awed and grateful to be receiving reminders of what I know (but don't, as often as I'd like, which is always, as of yet, do). Swami Satyananda Saraswati had a wonderful way of putting the same metaphor in "The Goddess and the Guru.Every action is an arrow that has already been released. All of us are the actors, waiting for our arrows to land. When an arrow lands, if we react, we shoot another arrow. The arrows continue in rapid succession until we cultivate the spirit of renunciation known as udasa. U means circumstance. Dasa means the servant of. It smybolizes acceptance, freedom from reaction, complete surrender. When one attains udasa, the spirit of surrendering, then there is total acceptance of every circumstance without the shooting of new arrows..." Sometimes my greatest frustration is with myself, when I fall short of what I am attempting to learn, practice. This, too is yet another arrow. I work to put the bow to rest.
