Guest guest
>> I have a truck load of work I haven't sold. It just stacks up but the shakti keeps flowing << Yep, yep...me too, and I'm getting ready to haul it from one town to another yet again. I sell a little here and there, but I have never made a living from my art. I just do it because it is within me to do it...I know you know what I mean. On the other hand, your work is beautiful and would benefit people. Are there any other galleries in your area you might approach. Or alternative spaces? I think I was fortunate to find and become a member of the Women's Caucus for Art, which is a national group, but also has local chapters. Not only did I find so many kindred souls, for whom art is an expression of spirit, but I got lots of encouragement and ideas. I was also and still am a member of a group in Maryland called TAG (Takoma Art Guild). Even though I am no longer there, they are preparing to show some of my work (prints) in October, along with another member who moved away. This is also a satsangh. Since I never wanted to be part of the (New York scene) art market, I early on learned the benefit of the alternative space. What I especially like about this is that it fits with my idea of art ~ that it is part of people's everyday lives, not something separate, up on a pedestal behind a velvet curtain. So...I've been in (group and solo) shows in restaurants, coffee shops, churches, municipal buildings, schools, small boutique shops, etc. Some people are disturbed by my work (or frightened by aspects of it); others are moved to tears. Either way, I am happy. (Usually it is the babies or the snakes they have difficulty with.) Shanti ~ Linda
