Hi Linda... Boy, your beautiful post touched me deeply. This whole catastrophe has made me numb, feeling exactly like the loss of a loved one. I shudder to think you and your granddaughter were recently there, so close to this madness. I think when we hear the words ''Love conquers All", we imagine the word 'love' as we usually define it. Love usually means all those *good* words/things. But the more I get closer to love, the more I realize to love is more about acceptance of 'what is', and it's not what I thought it used to be. Jesus said 'Love your enemies'. Ugh! Yeeeewwww! (noooo, not *them*!). Victor Newman of The Young & Restless (richest man in the world! :-)), says "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." Okay, someone else most likely said that, but for you Y&R fans, Victor is THE man! So I've been asking myself, 'exactly what does that mean?'... to love your enemy. Do we send flowers? Send an email just to say ''I love you?" or whaaaat? How fragmented can that be when I don't feel that way? Well, the only answer I received was that Victor was pretty much on the nose. Keep them close by bringing the enemy -- our only enemy, which is all our fears, to our heart... our center of love. Bringing darkness to light. And where there is no fear, there is only love. Love does conquer all (fears). Much Love, xxxtg

Guest guest
Hi TG: How true.....love is something that seems to have to be redefined along with ones growth....I like to think of it as the closest we humans have to the manifestation of God. Your thoughts of it being the best weapon to darkness is very valid. I believe that it is thought that there are only two root emotions for us all - one either comes from fear or one comes from love. What I feel is important is that we do not use 'love conquers all' as a reason to believe that we can pray or love this situation away...sometimes even with love in our hearts action that appears to be less than loving has to be taken. I do not know if 'turning the other cheek' is always the best solution and I can't help but wonder if there are not those, especially women, in some of the countries under the rule of these terrorists who are not hoping that Nato will now say "enough is enough". I have an 18 year old niece who just moved into the NYU dorms two weeks ago, another niece who is still not allowed back in her school, a granddaughter who does not quite grasp how to feel about the destruction of a building she was drawing pictures of in school on Monday to share with her classmates after her weekend visit...somehow, telling these girls that if we just love enough seems foolish and highly inadequate. Guest guest
we can no longer prescribe to the 'love is blind' theory Love has never been blind it is we who are blind, it is we who deny the very existence of love. You will not find it outside in the world unless you find it inside your heart. Only you, each of us can open that door. This has been an attack on our very Soul and how we respond will be the ultimate challenge. This is a time of deep searching of everything we hold to be true and if we are honest with ourselves maybe just maybe we will find "Love" intact. All begins within the heart. Open the door of your heart, see without sight, hear without ears and be still. love Jeannie - LC Thursday, September 13, 2001 11:45 AM Re: love conquers all >love is and will be even to a lowly bug unfortunately, for the mind and ego - hate also is - love will not conquer this situation unless as tg suggests we develop a higher perspective of love itself - we can no longer prescribe to the 'love is blind' theory. Guest guest
Dear Jeannie: My views are not about the ability or inability to open my heart. Those who understand the concept of an open heart and the peace that exists only within will continue to work to uplift. I believe that there are those who live in madness and there are those who must take care of the madness - give them a cure if you will - I simply believe that the spiritual community can not at this time in history fix this situation by prayer or meditation. There are many scholars who believe that the stories of both the Ramayana and the Bhavagad Gita are based in historical fact. Everyone has their part to play in this world those who are on a spiritual path will play theirs but so will those who play a different role. It is at this time that we need to support through love our leaders as they make the decisions they need to make. Yes! How many times I have found my center by letting go of fear and confusion and ended up doing some action that never would have occurred to me to do, that normally would have seemed to me as less than loving. I amaze myself at times as I'm a born wuss. :-) (But really!) When it's clear, it's clear. >I do not know if 'turning the other cheek' is always the best solution and I can't help but wonder if there are not those, especially women, in some of the countries under the rule of these terrorists who are not hoping that Nato will now say "enough is enough". I'm sure they are! And if they don't say it, we can say it here, right now... Enough is enough! I never understood that 'turning the other cheek' thing, as again, it felt terribly fragmented for me. After contemplating on it years ago, I got that it meant 'looking at (the person/the situation) from a different angle... from the angel (whoops, freudslip) of love instead of fear. And again, love meaning 'without fear', and not our usual meaning of what we think love means. Hey, I hear ya' and understand your point. I know the sharing pictures has to be difficult for your granddaughter to grasp too. Bless her little heart. I liked what you said in another post -- Give our support to our leaders as they make the decisions they need to make. Excellent. School is back on here, people are back to work, the airlines are pretty much running, the eye of a hurricane just ran through here... things seem to be getting back to normalcy. But I don't see how anything will ever be the same again. That may be a good thing. Love, xxxtg
Guest guest
The following is from Sandeep Chatterjee (a contributor to many of these lists): "India is in a mess. You have maybe couple of million people so poor, that they are just sitting waiting for death. Not from any disease, but from hunger, for lack of ability to produce or buy any food. Can you imagine, a million people, silently waiting for the relief of death to arrive? Statistically, they only come to 1-2% of the total population, so, a nice little figure forgotten about, in Govt reports. And the cruel joke is that from this year , India will me a major player in exporting food grains to the International markets." The question: Is love helping these people ("conquering" the problem of global starvation & misappropriation of resources) -- and if so, let's see the evidence. If not -- are these people unloved/unloving? How is "love" helping them? , leteegee@a... wrote: > Linda wrote: > > >> > >> >How true.....love is something that seems to have to be redefined along > >> with ones growth....I like to think of it as the closest we humans have to > >> the manifestation of God.
