Guest guest
Namaste All, IMO, Holy Indifference means the observation of events with compassion without emotional involvement. It does not preclude aiding and helping people in distress or carrying out one's duty or dharma. It can be anyone from a monk to a soldier. For example a soldier in battle, who does his job with detachment doesn't attract bad karma. However if he becomes personally involved like writing things on bombs or enjoying killing then he is guilty. Holy Indifference involves Ahimsa to man and beast. These usually means vegeterianism and only using violence in defence. Not pro-active or pre-emptively. This tends to divide the human race into different levels, animal human, aspiring human, human, 'Divine' human. There is a reason why most humans only use a small percentage of their brain power. That is because most were not originally aspiring humans, or humans but in fact were animals, primates and hominids. Without going into too much scripture, it is recorded in Genesis 6, and Bhagavata, that advanced souls,(Kumaras), descended and became Adamic Man. So there were different levels of humans on the planet for millions of years. However sometime prior to about 9,000 BCE, there was a depopulating of the planet. To fill the gap, mixture people and hominids were somewhat genetically engineered to 'create', an exploitable population. This I believe is the reason why most people are wholly indifferent to the suffering of animals, and even humans, hence bombing, wars and other atrocities. Most humans are animal humans and don't need most of their brain power, intelligence has nothing to do with it, only levels of awareness in the intellect. The opportunity to become human lies in developing holy indifference and spirituality, particularly non violence, which includes not killing animals. If awareness is not developed then one is still a human animal, intelligent or not.........ONS..Tony.
