Guest guest
A top astronomer(astrophysicist), was interviwed on TV, in connection with today's eventual landing of a US spaceship, on Mars. He was saying, in a quite excited tone of voice .. while accentuating his words with hands/arms gesticulations : ".. and it is important for us Danish folk to note, The Date of the landing .. it is a Very important date ..Exactly 400 years after the death of Thycho Brahe (Danish astronomer) .. he has made our country a great contributor .. he is the Only .. one of the only famous Danish (he corrected himself) who left his mark on the world of science...". Once in a while, I used to look at the vastness of the skies, and feel the insignificance of my personal I-dentity and personal drama .. and wondered sometimes whether I should not have had astrophysics as profession .. it felt as being so much more trans- personal and significant, than what I do now. But apparently, astronomy as any other discipline, is no cure for the pettiness of human mind and its 'gods' and flags .. It reminds me of Krishnamurti's statement about the landing on the moon ..(I paraphrase).. "they go thru all that enormous scientific knowledge and efforts to land on the moon, and they plant a flag on it.." And this astro-chap, is one of the leaders of humanity .. He was also saying, that Thycho Brahe helped to change man's view of the universe.. by freeing it from the religious views and instead using direct observation. And he was uplifitng the value of the telescope.. and I wonder why, he never turned the 'telescope' from gazing onto the skies, towards himself ..?! So what is the difference between this 'highly educated' and 'civilized' flag-bearer and the poor uneducated 'fundamentalist' ? .. If I would ask a ufo-naut, what he thinks of the 'future of humanity', I would not be at all surprized if he would say : "..Humans ?!.. .... Forget it man ! Paths, places, sights, perceptions, and indeed all experiences arise from and exist in and subside back into the Space of Awareness. Like waves rising are not different than the ocean, all things arising from Awareness are of the nature of Awareness. Awareness does not come and go but is always Present. It is Home. Home is where the Heart Is. Jnanis know the Heart to be the Finality of Eternal Being. A true devotee relishes in the Truth of Self-Knowledge, spontaneously arising from within into It Self.
