Love and grace ~ Janak. ******************************** This is what Jnaneshwar said on it. It can be seen, therefore, That he who perceives that there is nothing Does not himself become nothing. The Self has this same unique kind of existence, Beyond both existence and non-existence. The ultimate Reality Is neither an object to Itself Nor is It an object to anyone else. Should it then be regarded as non-existent? In a tank the water may be so clear That it appears non-existent; Though one who looks into the tank may not see it, Still it is there. Similarly, The ultimate Reality exists in Itself, And is beyond the conceptions Of existence or non-existence. JNANESHVAR The book from which this excerpt is taken, is entitled "Jnaneshvar: The Life and Works of the Celebrated Thirteenth Century Indian Mystic-Poet," by S. Abhyayananda. It is published by Atma Books, Olympia, Washington, ISBN 0-914557-02-5. $11.95 U.S.,260pp. Absolute Awareness dawns with Perfect Clarity when the mind subsides into the Total Silence of the Self. The Unlimited Nature of "Now - The Present Moment", becomes Fully Self-Evident. The Self Sees IT Self by It Self and Through It Self. Yes, I like Stephen Mitchell's Tao Te Ching also. I "can be it", because not being it isn't an option. However, being it with no option to not be it says there is no way to realize where I come from, because I already fully am being, independent of need to realize, and even independent of coming from somewhere ... Yes -- I know this is poetry ... And who else would or could be this being? Who could not be this? There seems to be ways to judge levels and degrees of being. "Seems" being the operative word. If there were something to realize about where I come from, then there could be a Self that could be seen or encountered. Saying "Tao" has a nice indefinitely definite ring to it -- good music ... -- Dan Make a great connection at Personals. http://personals. Impeccable logic! There is only Reality (Tao, Self, Consciousness...) and ways of relating to it. Even the relating to it is Reality (Tao, Self, Consciousness...) Thus Self sees nothing but Self. It seems that we say the same things! I love the word "seems." It is the explanation for everything, it seems. An amazing thing is that words can be used to say at least two contradictory things about anything, both of which can be considered true. Even so I find that words are quite narrow things, even though capable of much beauty and pain; yet they fail to convey their true meanings. This is why direct perception is superior. When one has sat with himself and intuited the mysteries of his own heart, such an expression is indisputable. The Silence of the Heart is irrefutable. THAT is good music indeed! :-) Sorry, I'm rambling. This also just came to mind: "The orator puts off his individuality, and is then most eloquent when most silent. He listens when he speaks, and is a hearer along with his audience. Who has not harkened to Her infinite din? She is Truth's speaking trumpet, the sole oracle... For through Her all revelations have been made, and just in proportion as men have consulted Her oracle within, they have obtained clear insight, and their age has been marked as an enlightened one." ~ Henry David Thoreau. Guest guest
Hi Janak -- Yes, "revelation" is not about knowing what words mean. Yet, words are used. Lao Tzu wasn't going to say anything at all, until begged by a border guard to put something in writing before he disappeared beyond the boundary of his land ... Or so the story goes... There is nothing inherently wrong about using words, not at all. It's just that we tend to mesmerize ourselves with our words, rituals, images ... we end up taking a word or concept for reality, probably because words and concepts seem "manageable" or "able to be had" ... :-) Yes -- the direct perception of it, is it ... there's no other way it could be. What is expressed and that which expresses aren't two. Namaste and shalom -- Dan > Hi Dan. Impeccable logic! > There is only Reality (Tao, Self, Consciousness...) > and ways of > relating to it.
