dream images when watched flitter across the screen of sleep and

slide off the mind, both the mind and the sleeping body aware and

acknowledging that these are just motions and reactions to do and to

dance to, just like in the waking state.

Learning to watch the motions and dance in sleep is a good lesson for

watching in the waking state. With time one comes to realize that the

motions and the dance and the reacting is the same in waking as in

sleep.

Magne Aga and Jan have both commented that they wondered whether the

different states of sleep and dreaming, REM and non-REM sleep and the

alpha, theta and delta patterns of sleep would merge into one when

there was awareness during sleep and that some of these states could

appear spontaneously outside of the "normal" pattern of sleep and

waking.

The calm yet waking alpha state seems to be quite predominant for

awareness... I would say that in time the mind will fall into

awareness and alpha state by itself, not really being able to force

itself to be in any other state...

One would think that this is something that comes about when

awareness has been reached and the brain areas controlling sleep and

waking has been synchronized globally so that the overall most

optimal state of the waking mind is the relaxed alpha state.

That is a nice mystery...

(just an evening comment)
