No, you're not offbase as I see it.

 

I would say that the base awareness at one point becomes aware of

awarenes and aware of itself as awareness. It's hard to say exactly

what happens apart from that; whether the small self is engulfed by

the large, or transcended, or the base awareness becomes "enlivened

from passivity" as various spiritual traditions describe it. :) I

would not disagree with anything you said.

Thanks for telling me of that observation. It's interesting to hear

that the theta induction didn't work after a period of self inquiry.

 

It could be taken to mean that the steady I am is something which is

beyond theta activity in the mind, but it could also be taken to mean

that a theta or similar state is already present, therefore induction

has no effect. Hard to say which one is correct based on report only,

the only conclusive evidence would be direct EEG measuring, which

would have been interesting to do.
