Always good to have someone to test out one's ideas on. , bgbbyg@a... wrote: > The idea that one becomes aware of a base awareness sounds backward > to me. Knowing that that is happening is the "base awareness". No, you're not offbase as I see it. I would say that the base awareness at one point becomes aware of awarenes and aware of itself as awareness. It's hard to say exactly what happens apart from that; whether the small self is engulfed by the large, or transcended, or the base awareness becomes "enlivened from passivity" as various spiritual traditions describe it. I would not disagree with anything you said. > I bought a David Paradise a few years ago. It uses light, sound, and > electrical pulses to create desired brainwaves in each hemisphere of > the brain. It's interesting to hear that the theta induction didn't work after a period of self inquiry. It could be taken to mean that the steady I am is something which is beyond theta activity in the mind, but it could also be taken to mean that a theta or similar state is already present, therefore induction has no effect. Hard to say which one is correct based on report only, the only conclusive evidence would be direct EEG measuring, which would have been interesting to do. Thanks again for the comments ! Love, A.
