Guest guest
Thank you Greg... Hello, I've noticed a thread of conversation on Jesus.. It is so wonderful to find discussions that echo some things I'm experiencing at the moment. I guess that is all I wanted to say.. LOL... No. wait... Does anyone know any resource to read, to meditate on, and perhaps discover the real meanings of what Jesus taught... The real "lifestyles" of the time that have been miscommunicated down thru the centuries... Perhaps a good historical fact book on the lives and times of that particular time period. It seems to be an important question for me at the moment, since it keeps popping up everywhere I go. Thanks, Love, Lynette > Gregory Goode <goode > Re: Greetings Friends from Wim and Lynette {note for harsha at the end) > > Hi Lynette, > > Glad to hear of your wonderful and insightful time with Wim. Guest guest
I have some books at home. There's an interesting one called JESUS LIVED IN INDIA, which links Jesus with Buddhism. There are also some books and websites on the Essenes that say that their mystical school was what Jesus really taught. It's a fertile field! There are also some extraordinarily beautiful writings of the Desert Fathers called the Philokalia. More meditative than historical. About the most beautiful, serene meditative work I've ever read coming from orthodox Christianity! Guest guest
Dear Lynette, First, thanks so much for your tales of Wim! And your poems! Here is a good online resource about early days of Christianity. "The Nag Hammadi Library, a collection of thirteen ancient codices containing over fifty texts, was discovered in upper Egypt in 1945. This immensely important discovery includes a large number of primary Gnostic scriptures -- texts once thought to have been entirely destroyed during the early Christian struggle to define "orthodoxy" -- scriptures such as the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, and the Gospel of Truth." http://www.webcom.com/~gnosis/naghamm/nhl.html Attachment: (application/octet-stream) codices.jpg [not stored]
