Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Sangha,

Last week on Thursday, I received a call from my wife, that she had gone

into premature labor. In the middle of complicated and uncertain

circumstances, an emergency c-section was performed and our baby daughter

was delivered. Both my wife and daughter are at home now. Mira (my wife's

choice for the name) came 7 weeks early and generally is OK other than some

usual issues that babies who come early may have to deal with. She is a most

welcome addition to the family. The pediatrician is closely monitoring her

and we are all optimistic. I flew home last Thursday when I heard what was

happening and for five days was holding Mira and looking at her. She is

smaller than our other children but very special and beautiful. Coming in my

middle age, I am cherishing this gift. In a few weeks when the semester

ends, I will again rejoin my family. Wanted to share the good news with you.

Will catch up with the e-mail over the next few days.

God bless you

Love to all

Harsha

Congratulations and love and best wishes to you, and your wife (name?) and Mira

and your other children! You mention being at school - where are they?

Wonderful Harsha. I am excited for you. Mira is in my prayers.

You know, since average life expectancy for males in the

US is 71 that would place you around 35.5, which is actually pretty

young. ; )

Thank you Jan, Greg, Gloria, Bruce, James, David, Jill, Lynette, Linda, Ed,

Vicki, Holly, Bobby, Jerrysan Rinpoche, Andrew, and others for your very

kind remarks and congratulations.

I never speak much about my personal life because I respect the privacy of

my family and do not wish to say anything substantive without their

permission, especially that of my wife. In this case, however, with the

birth of my daughter under very trying circumstances, my joy simply spilled

over.

To satisfy Sri Jerrysan Rinpoche's (Tulku's Tulku plus plus + + +)

curiosity, I have been married for decade and a half. My wife being somewhat

younger has made possible the recent birth of our daughter. The geographical

separation between me and my family is temporary and will come to a closure

soon. It has been taxing for me in many ways, including the flying back and

forth.

Thank you again dear friends, sisters, and brothers for all your many

heartfelt and beautiful comments on birth of Mira. I am deeply touched and

your lovely sentiments are much appreciated.

God bless you with all good things

Love to all

Beloved Harshaji, Wifeji and little Miraji,

What marvelous news for us here at the satsang! You commented over a

year ago about the great, good fortune for one to be born to yogis.

Little Miraji is surely a beacon lovelight come into this world to

shine a bit brighter for those who are saddened by the Maya of this

tragic time of war and fear. For your, and all of ours, beloved Miraji

the lightbird born to bring joy, a poem from Mirabai from "For the

Love of the Dark One," translated by Andrew Schelling -

Dark Friend, what can I say?

This love I bring

from distant lifetimes is ancient -

don't despise it.

Seeing your elegant body,

I'm ravished.

Visist our courtyard, hear the women

singing old hymns.

On the square I've laid

out a welcome of teardrops,

body and mind I surrendered ages ago,

taking refuge

wherever your foot passes.

Mira flees from lifetime to lifetime,

your virgin.

Blessings upon your house and heart Harshaji, my dear friend. This is

one sweet little child that is so loved by all of us, form unseen.

Love, Peace,

Mazie

harsha-san...when white wolfe is not playing the piano, washing the dishes or

clothes, writing a poem to his beloved mira, well, then he is reading....always

he is reading something.....just read, coincidentally, and shared this with my

mirror a few days ago.....from The Map of Love by Ahdaf Soueif in a passage

discussing the etymology of the name Mira.....

Anna gazes at the word. ''Mir' aah'?' she hazards.

'Right,' says Layla, 'what does that mean?'.....

Anna shakes her head. Layla points at the large mirror on the left wall.

"Mirror?'

"Yes," Layla nods.

'But way are the two words so close?' Anna asks.' "Woman" and "mirror"?'

'Well, "mirror" must be from "ra's": to see. But I don't know where

"woman"

comes in - oh, wait - mar' is "person" so mar'ah is the feminine. Can it be

that mar' has to do with being visible?' She turns to her mother. 'What do you

think, Mama? Mar' from being visible?'

'Is it just people who are visible, child? Animals and trees and all the created

world is visible.'

'Perhaps it only people who see themselves - '

'Some see with their eyes, some see with their hearts. The name of the Prophet

preserve you and you.'

.....you have chosen a big name for your daughter to live into....i pray that she

bear the name as well as does my mira.....it is a name rich with a history of

higher consciousness....may all the gods and the one god above all gods protect

her....may she always see the path of love clearly, the path to and of the true

self, with the single eye of the sacred heart and follow it

faithfully.....^^~~~~~
