Guest guest
This is not the age of information. This is notthe age of information. Forget the news, and the radio, and the blurred screen. This is the timeof loavesand fishes. People are hungry, and one good word is breadfor a thousand. - David Whyte"Loaves and Fishes"from The House of Belonging

It would sure be nice, if that cleared up the world hunger problem... all the talking going on through the centuries, has it gotten any better? People are still imagining "global change" is possible? The focus is still "external?" There may be no hope. Cheers, Tim

Guest guest
Dear Tim, Aw gee, was hoping you'd laugh! You made some great points about actual world hunger, tho to me the poem was more about contrasting the deluge of words from the so called information age with the hunger for one good word that actually might mean something, or feed one's spirit. But art is one sacred freedom that it would be inimical to what it is about to impose tastes on another. Appetites for poetry, music, and visual art are mostly acquired cultural ones, just as are religious conditionings. Still, the basic yearnings of the human spirit are the same, no matter these apparent differences of expression. To me, art represents the best of that spirit, it's more my actual religion to the extent I still have one. One of the best choral conductors of the last century, Robert Shaw, once said that with music, the flesh is made Word. This is not something to debate, it can only be known when it happens to you while singing. Anyway, I am so glad to see you back here, Tim. You don't babble, you make a lot of sense.
