Dear Tim,

About a year ago I played a bit with this appellation of mine, how to write

it...\/\/I/\/\... How to express "that I am", playfully.

I am really just a kid whose name is Wilhelm, William or WIM in Dutch for

short .

The way I played :-) with \/\/l/\/\ was to indicate that I /\/\ in the

middle of it.

And when you turn me over 180 degrees, \/\/l/\/\, I /\/\ still in the midst

of it.

I may be word play, at least it is play...

Will-I-AM

Dearest Wim,

"Will-I-AM" is so fun and glad-wrap-getting-on-me kinda mirth-

bringing. I am also at play with words. Pert near all a the time.

"I WANT WORDS!" certainly doesn't help me in sweeping away the twigs

and stones from the bridal chamber, but it does allow mea (mea culpa)

me a fine opportunity to roll deliciously in the word-strewn rose

petal blanket I've spread about me. It seems to be the thorns of the

flowers I've so happily tossed about that catch me up every time. The

pretty silk sheets get all snagged up. The lover receives all manner

of gougings in my glee. I come away a bit bedraggled from the rose

petal stains being so deeply ingrained in my own thorn thrashings.

Why, I even appear to be running about with rose-colored hair! What

can I do? I think next time I'll just go out into the meadow and let

the wildflowers woo my Beloved to the inner sanctum. I babble

brilliantly, or so I think. With noting that my wild wanderings are

really tangling me up even further from the truth, I say this, "I

love you Wim." You've sparked on many occasions a sweet response in

me that bordered on pure joy. The story about the water drops on the

small pond in circles growing, widening, left me breathless. The one

about "Reality is Love in Bliss." Oops, uhh, or was it "Love is

reality in bliss?" I liked it, either way. I shared it around at the

time. "Will-I AM,Maz-IE." I kinda like words too, Wim. But, I like

fewer words from myself. Or do I?

Love, Peace,

Mazie

It could be said "excessive interest in words" is a form of idol

worship (especially when not combined with discrimination) -- not

surprising, as many on these "spiritual lists" are involved in what

could be termed "worship of graven images."

Cheers,

Dear Tim,

When one of the musicians who performs with Coleman Barks implied

that he should just throw out all his books and look to nature, which

was the perfect manuscript, and study only that, he replied that he,

well, he just loved words and books. I'm really glad that he does

love them so, for he's given me so much of Rumi's love expressed that

I may never have found so readily. Is my excessive interest in words

idol-worshipping? Perhaps. But I've never found a problem

with 'worshipping of graven images' because it seemed to allow me to

go further, deeper past any physical or whatnot kind of worship, to

the love of the spirit of Love that it evoked within me. Many have

said that Sri Ramakrishna worshipped graven images, notably his

Beloved Kali. This is a stretch comparison, but isn't it the same

thing with lovers of words? the words in and of themselves aren't the

joy. It's the love twined through them that gigs me really well. I

can fall all over myself with flower flinging and incense waving in

front of Sri Krishna's image, but I am well aware of what it is I'm

really doing. For myself, the life of a Bhakta, it just seems right

and it seems the right vehicle for me now at this time and space. But

what do I know? Just this: Love of the One is the Juice-squeezer for

me. And squeezing the dickens, the bejeezus out of the Beloved with

words is so much fun. Whatever gets you through the night I imagine.

Love, Peace,

Mazie
