Guest guest
Dear Gloria, You wrote: >>>And everyone is asked to snip as much as possible...<<< If anything, I snip and get snipped... :-) About my babbling :-) I will be quite quiet, email wise, for about three months, starting 12 January 2002, just like I was quiet last October and November when I was on tour. I will be seeing about 350 people individually and about a thousand altogether in larger audiences. You wrote: >>> ... nothing against Wim personally, but from words written on an email list who can be in any position to evaluate claims to special powers or experiences one way or the other? <<< If, indeed, you have nothing against me personally, then what about 'good old trust'? What are you saying? Not believing is easy, one can do that all the time as there seems to be no risk in disbelief. Trust and faith though, are rather transformative, but... they can be risky business. After all, who wants their boat rocked? Are we dealing with some 'elementary' trust issue here? There have been others who had difficulty trusting the elements. (Stormy waves in Galilean waters!) Do you think, Gloria, that I would find it worthwhile to set myself up as a liar? I do not claim supernatural magical powers, I have never done that... I have gifts though...and those gifts have been with human-kind from day one. And from day two, those gift have been ill received by many an unkind human. And on the third day of Chri... my true 'love'... is 'reality' and 'truth' (ananda, sat, chit) Ramana uses two types of references to siddhis, one type points to a very specific and not necessarily consensual meaning of the word siddhi, especially in the India of today. The second type points at 'full emancipation' or Self-realization. To get more clarity on this, I just spoke at length to a very good friend of mine in India. When I mentioned the exhaustive lexicographic material about the meaning of the word siddhi, (which I posted yesterday) she agreed and said that the meaning of 'supernatural powers brought about by magic...' was anecdotal and exemplary only of certain historical periods, but that it is not part anymore of any serious, authentic and radical siddhi yoga teaching. (If indeed, it ever was.) I want to add, that I have never had, and can never have anything to do with 'supernatural powers brought about by magic...' as they are without any doubt whatsoever in the realm of illusion and manipulation. And you know by now, Gloria, how I see that. Where Ramana talks about siddhi as "Self-realization which is permanent and which is the only true accomplishment (siddhi)" he talks about the same thing that I have spoken about all along, and I quote again from the Sanskrit lexicon: Siddhi, a.o. "supreme felicity, bliss, beatitude, complete sanctification, final emancipation, perfection." All of which I include in the word 'glory' and the gifts that come with it. Why would someone with the name Gloria take exception to the things I talk about... granted, at length... but hey, this is what it is all about, especially now, as it is Christmas... GLORIA in excelsis Deo et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. or in Greek: Doxa en hupsistois Theoi kai epi ges eirene en anthropois eudokia. GLORY to God in the highest and on earth and the blessing of peace to people of good will and truth. (My translation) This is from Luke 2:14, when the angels announce the birth of Christ to the shepherds, Christ who is to be called "Immanuel", God with us and immanently within us, the divine within and without.
