Given the stark limitations

of language, you've said it

beautifully and directly.

Thank you.

Unless it's a case of Truth Decay. In that case, a trip to the

transcendentist and regular use of mental floss would help :-P

Cheers,

Oh yeah... watch out for the Conscious Ness Monster, the Not-Yeti and

the Bipolar Bear... very dangerous creatures on the nondual path :-)

Cheers,

Hi Harvey --

> I was surprised to hear your confirmation of Jody's dictum: "The

love that only knows itself is who we are."

Surprise is good!

It comes with clarity that

expectations are images,

flickering, never providing a match

with "what is!"

>When I first came on that utterance on this list, I thought of your

comments that the ultimate awareness is not aware of itself.

I don't believe I said exactly that.

But, let's not go backward, treating

reality as the image in the rear-view mirror ...

What occurs to me "now" to say about the

point you raise is this:

When there is something to be aware of as self,

that image is construct, is "the past" ...

*What is* isn't ever found as either the image

which is "the past," nor the supposed image-maker,

nor the supposed recognition, all of which

occur as "the past."

The love knowing only itself has no distance from

itself. So, it's not an activity that occurs

in a temporal way. It doesn't need or involve

time or duration. Such love holds no "the past,"

so no image for any separable being which loves

something other ... Love is just a conceptual

image being used because we are using words,

which are images ...

These images don't arise apart from love.

It's just love that reveals their insubstantiality ...

>(I hope I am not mangling what you actually said.)

Well, the concept of "ultimate awareness" is

just another mental image that appears, departs.

The idea of an idea about something ultimate

is really quite humorous!

> And assorted comments on

> knowing implying a knower and known and therefore a duality. Am I

misreading you, or is your word play so fluid that a million flowers

can bloom in your garden?

Fluidity and rigidity are complementary.

But yes, love doesn't depend on structure,

so often is metaphorically spoken of

as light, as flow ...

Blooming flowers are great, but maybe

less so if there are allergies :-)

Jody's statement expresses no knower separated

from what is known, only love in which there is

no beloved apart, nor lover apart.

What is blooming in this garden?
