they live in the cellar

you've seen the light in the cellar

through the cracks in the floorboards

you've seen movement

throught the cracks in the floorboards

after you lock your doors

and go away

they unlock them

you come home

your computer

and the things you've saved

all your life

are gone

you sit in an empty home

you see movement in the light

coming through the cracks

in the floorboards

they're coming upstairs

they have three horns

one protruding from each temple

and one in the center of the forehead

you want to strike one

hard

for all they've done to you

but he hugs you sensitively

and looks into your eyes

with a mocking sadness

they go back to the cellar

all you can do

is go shopping

and yell at them

to keep the doors locked

when you go away

Hi Jerry. I don't like most poetry.

I like this though.

thank you. i like my own poems the best. i would think that a poet has to like

their own poems the best. Or in the field of enlightenment, their own version of

enlightenment. does that make sense?

Dear Jerry,

I too liked this poetic offering a lot. It was just such a real real poem

Jerry. I found it so intriguing of a way to write. Of course now I have been

inspired by what you have written, as I often find myself inspired from

poets like Eric Ashford and Mark Valentine aka White Wolfe. This poem is

just one of those that I go back and read again and again for the full

effect. As you also wrote, poets like their own work so well it is funny

sometimes. I have found myself come across some poem I have written months

previously, completely unaware that it was something I had written, and as I

was reading I thought, "Wow, this poet really is good and has a cool way of

saying what cannot be said."

This sounds so filled with ego leanings, but it was come about free from any

attachment, just open listening to that voice I failed to recognize as my

own. Sometimes when I feel I have found that perfect line of expression,

that hook to the heart, or that slam to the brain, it is nothing short of

joy, sweet joy and love of singing about the beauty and weirdness and all

this wild and wonderful adventure we are all in. It is a superb poem Jerry.

It really has its hook and slam.

Love,

Mazie
