A piece I wrote about 1 month before 9/11

 

forgive if you've read it before.

 

the figure referenced is very loosely buddhist Tara, who has some wrathful

forms.

smoke spins from newborn

fires small against

sunball on the

west horizon

 

war rages mideast

rage rages in ignorance

 

pain rapes the soul

tearing it open

bleeding blood

into the fire

 

Kiyaii!!!

 

valleys echo the drumbeat

that thrums with the heart

and vibrates the thighs.

 

open up, find connection

close down, be consumed

by flames licking

at feet.

 

riding the fire updraft

windhorse ride!

hoofbeats drumming drumbeats

drumming heartbeats

 

the painful heart is the

open heart,

it cries and screams

and thrashes in an eye with an I

 

fire burns the I and blinds it down...

 

from the ashes heart dances

streaming light in 10 directions

in a bed of lotus-born flames

with roots in a field

of 10,000 sculls.

 

tear-born one of

the sometimes 1000-armed one,

you who sometimes

dances in flames,

 

dance with us now,

connect through the pain

of ignorance, anger, desire

 

and teach oneness again.
