Guest guest
Who says you must have brains? There are no grapes of wrath On this planet. Only this constant spinning. and those lines in the universe above are simply the stars moving in rapid succession one after another across the night sky making that now vacant cavity you used to call your brain go for a midnight whirling dance. You've even forgotten about Where you left your hat. You met a mad woman along the way Who told you that you and she would make A fine, fine love match. She said that between the two of you You might add up to half a brain. And that certainly was enough By anybody's standards. The two of you sit in a small trailer And whisper sweet nothings In each other's ears. That's all you know of life. And all you ever will Care to know. Every night you fall into sleep And travel to unknown galaxies Of fun and love games. By morning you are exhausted So you awaken to a different dream But you no longer can remember Whether you are awake or awake. Asleep or asleep. You become a new man And travel around With your new half witted wife Meeting people and selling books And delivering love to a universe That has never known Such love. Who says you must have brains To make it in this world Or any other world? You have love and You have God. What else do you need? Guest guest
Thank you Susie, This seems to describe the life I lived out of my travel van for the last five months. Did we meet perchance? Wim PS. I'll start travelling again halfway through August... Susie Rock [revsusie] Tuesday, June 11, 2002 1:26 PM Fw: Who says you must have brains? Who says you must have brains? Guest guest
Hi Susie, What a lovely piece! As I said before, it reminds me of the way I do my work. >>> ... in a small trailer... <<< You asked: >>>...What else do you need?... <<< A bumper sticker saying: “Have love, will travel” or another one: “I have a heart, just add love.” Wim --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Who says you must have brains To make it in this world Or any other world? You have love and You have God. What else do you need? Love, Susie Lovely thoughts, Susie...even if Johnny Steinbeck might take exception... Despite all the rhetoric and emotion, we all share on a variety of subjects (and this is the fuin and fascinating part, I think...) I believe that our interactions occur because at some level we all are endowed with brains. We might not all use them as well or as often as intended, but that is neither here nor there. If we find creatures endowed with wings, we imagine that the purpose of the wing is to allow flight. If we find eyes, we deduce that they are placed in heads in order to enable sight. Although we speak of hearts from the perspective of "feelings & emotion" the heart is placed in bodies to pump blood. It pumps the blood to the rest of the body, its organs and especially to the brain--which uses a lot of blood in order to keep the body going and to enable thinking to occur. All that we feel--all emotion--comes to us via our senses and our ability to think. Thinking should never be chastized as a negative. Being a creature of only "logic" and cold reason, well that is a failure to fully use all of the beauty and ability of the brain. One must feel life and experience emotion to appreciate being human. One also, should experience logic and reason, if only to fulfill the promise of Divine Intelligence. Creatures evolved the ability to reason, to think, to calculate and solve problems--not because they were "faulty" or not in harmony with nature and "beingness" but precisely because they were--and were perfecting the process of interacting with the universe around them. We feel the deepest joys and emotions not because we have the smallest brains on the planet, but because we have some of the largest brains (per body mass) on the planet. And I firmly believe that other creatures with significant brain to body mass ratios also feel deep emotion, have vital memories and yearn to feel joy and beauty. So, please, everyone, let's stop kicking the brain around. It's a dumb thing to do, and only impedes understanding and enlightenment--which after all means to "bring light to one's thoughts" and that does require a brain.
