>>> there is a great taboo against ecstasy in "spiritual" culture, whether

it be among the faux-advaitists, the theist judges, or the subtle plane

escapists. everyone seems to want to deny the body, before they even inhabit

it! LOL!!! of course, this derives from a limited view on what the body

actually is -- a subtle but pernicious suspicion, due to faulty programming,

that it's some kind of obstacle to Truth, rather than a perfect expression

of Divine. <<<

....recalling a story told to me by Sasaki Roshi:

in the early part of the 20th century, the monks at his monastery in

Hokaido Provice would go out in the morning to perform their

customary food begging, walking along in single file through the

town. it might have looked rather edifying, but only the "insiders"

knew that, underneath their robes, each monk carried a small blunt

stick or stone, which they would use to whack their penises (should

they happen to get aroused upon seeing an attractive female).

upon hearing that story, i sort of lost my previous interest in going

to Japan to study in a Zen monastery, although i did meet my first

wife at one in the states.

sticks & stones, eh?

When I was a Trappist monk, we used to wear these rough woollen white

robes... It made you tickle all over your body, sometimes with predicktable

(not a Freudian oops) results. During the very early morning the monks had

to flagellate themselves, I did not have to participate in that, as I was

still a minor. What grace! Hmm? Despite being a minor I got disgraced

otherwise.

Predi()tably so?

Said that one psychiatrist, "I could've seen it coming, I must have invited

it."

What a world... eh?

Still so miraculously lovely
