Guest guest
Suppose, just suppose, that we were to allow ourselves a subtle shift in perception and, instead of believing ourselves to be humans having "spiritual" experiences, we remembered that we are actually Spirit having the inexplicable experience of being human? And suppose, in the vastness of the eternal mystery flow, we came to realize that experience itself is endless, and essentially devoid of any meaning, except what we might arbitrarily grant it in our transitory and totally random, unfounded knowing? And suppose that we saw, really Saw, that any clinging, even the most minute attachment, to any experience splits "heaven and earth" asunder, and this meaning-making of any experience sustains our apparent suffering by futilely seeking to conform Great Being to the comfortable pre-fab compartments of our presumed separate identities? And finally, just suppose that God Itself turns out to be nothing we can ever know, even as we distract ourselves with the mind's fear that this might just actually be so: that this Vast Emptiness indeed contains nothing sacred, unless one considers imaginative stories about some fictional first person, singular sacred. We experience this fear to the exact degree that we resist this fear. So – wonder if we were to suddenly wake up from the habitual sleep-walk and take a really good first look at these fingers sprouting from our hands, those little individualized bits of mystery we so casually call "fingers", but in fact have not the slightest clue as to what ... they ... ARE? Just for a goof, hmmm? What if we proceeded with this inquiry until it extended all the way through that fond collection now ensconced within the neural net, those jelly belly electrons zipping haplessly hither & thither, randomly colliding with each other to create some semblance of the peculiar order we assume is "the way things are"? What then if that fellow, that skin & bones shirtless Shiner on the corner of Main & Alhambra were to ask, in a voice that seemed impossible and yet familiar: "Hey man -- got a light?"
