Still and dark here on the Central Coast of California, but the Rooster crow, Peafowl cry and dawn is but 45 minutes away and closing fast. Do you think there are days rather than just a day, if we are all exisiting in the infinite absolute? I think perhaps there are, even if this seems a paradox. In the Vedas, such long cosmic days are known as Kalpas...representing tens of millions of years. Vishnu is said to breath out the universe in one Kalpa...the planets, stars and galaxies all spinning away...until he inhales and takes it all back to the source...only to breathe it all out again with another breath. Sort of the "expanding/contracting universe" theory, Hindu style. No "big bang" one supposes until Vishnu sneezes. Here then a peom: Vishnu Sneezes Vishnu sneeses See the universe unfold as it should Vishnu laughs We feel summer breezes And do good Vishnu sniffs and cries "hold!" Vishnu sneezes He has a cosmic cold. == Zenbob
Guest guest
Dear ZenBob, Kalpas? Sure, anything's possible. Even Vishnu with a cosmic dust allergy. Personally I think there is one perfect day, and lots of day dreams. Thanks for the poem! It almost 3pm here in England, cold dull and dreary. Oh yes, I forgot its Wimbledon fortnight! love eric In a message dated 7/5/02 4:48:20 AM Pacific Daylight Time, ErcAshfrd (AT) aol (DOT) com writes: Namaste. Guest guest
Hi Zenbob or is it Ismael? I already had such a weak spot for Vishnu and now you have him sneezing... Let's hand him a hanky, quick, lest we all get his cold and sneezingly expand our parallel universes a tad too quickly....
