With left hand,

receiving.

With right hand,

blessing --

 

which character's hands are these?

 

Expansion & contraction,

inhalation, exhalation --

Spirit dancing in masks of silver,

masks of gold, masks visible & invisible.

Sometimes we forget who wears the mask.

Sometimes we remember.

 

The show proceeds regardless.

 

Audience gasps when the mask comes off --

"Oh, I never could have guessed!"

They clap, they cry,

they smile, they sigh,

they spill their soft drinks in surprise!

 

Later, in the shadows, someone passes

through the aisles with

well-worn broom & dustpan:

"Another fine mess!"

She chuckles, and then

She too is off and on Her way, and

what remains is silence.

>From this silence, mysteriously

You and I appear.

Singing.

We take two steps in an empty hall

and down we fall, still laughing.

This song will never end, because

we are so often interrupted by

our laughter at the games of the Imposter.

 

In last night's movie, the Imposter

turned out to be the Architect –

we touched our toes together as laughing witnesses,

and the world wilted away between our feet.

 

"Oh Architect, your house of cards

won't stand up to our laughing toes --

the unemployment line awaits!"

 

Why did Siddartha leave his Darling

to wander naked and alone?

Seems about time we change that reel

and come full circle here at home.

 

Theatres can be entertaining, though

the ticket price keeps climbing.

Let's take a stroll instead tonight –

the stars are coming out just right!
