I once had a micro-burst dream where I saw the world in the future...maybe 15 or 20 years hence...

The government and multi-national corporations are the same thing,

cloning is not only legal, but mandatory to protect everyone's

genetic heritage and to be a reservoir for research and corporate

worker needs. Everyone has annual checkups, and recombinant DNA is

used to fix any defects in the genetic structure. Aging is almost

totally in a state of suspension. People can "download" degrees in

any area of expertise and have it loaded into their brains...all of

the experience and knowledge of not one, but even hundreds of

experts, doctors, lawyers, musicians, artists, etc.

Computers have ceased to exist as separate devices. They are

integrated directly into the person, allowing constant communication

between individuals, companies and governments. Sleep cycles are

highly regimented, and everyone is required to take their daily

alottment of sleep. Many drugs are not only legal, but regulated and

made a part of the weekly regimen for the average worker, allowing

them to have quick "recharge" times between hours of work, the

majority of which is of a service nature...all mechanical, assembly

and construction jobs being handled by machines and automated

factories that are run by only one or two managers. The food

industry has surpassed the medical/pharmeceutical industry, and war

has been made a worldwide crime. Nations or groups, even those

engaged in "liberation" movements that engage in war or armed

conflict, are routed out and tried for Crimes Against Humanity. The

power structure that runs everything monitors all worldwide

communication and acts with great speed and violence to any perceived

threat. TVs and movies no longer have any form of censorship, and

many laws regulating behavior are now eliminated. Entertaining the

masses is the primary goal of industry.

Everyone is happy, like it or not, and everyone gets a new vehicle every five years, like it or not.

Since everyone and everything is on a planned replacement cycle,

economic fluctuations are almost unheard of. There is no paper

money...only universal credits and barter.

Everyone is required to vote in elections, but the votes are never

really counted, and the corporate government chooses leaders that fit

their well defined plans. Everyone gets 2444 channels of cable, but

still cannot find a good show to watch.

Reality TV programs have exhausted all possible boundaries and totally

destroyed concepts of good taste, morality, decency and family...and

now shows primarily are fantasy based, including sports, news and

documentaries, where bizarre sexual acts are portrayed by the

newscasters, actors, etc., during the program, and viewers can choose

to participate using thier remote audio/video connections (sort of

like virtual webcam, only much more realistic).

At this point the micro-vision ended, and I had to go to the bathroom (WC) in order to throw up.

I keep hoping that people somewhere will short-circuit this future

world, but every month it seems that we are getting closer and

closer.

I had this micro-vision in 1982.

Pray with me, that the thing just fizzles out...

Hey Zenbob,

Have you seen the movie "Minority Report"? It has many similarities to

your dream. The pre-crime police go out to

stop crimes before they happen, based on the downloadable visions of 3

psychics, who are kept drugged floating in

water to keep them dreaming. Of course they are able to find these

criminals based on the sketchy info due

to the amount of surveillance info kept on everyone.

Of course, there's a lot of money to be made selling pre-crime

prevention, never mind that it hasn't even happened yet,

So we mustn't let any flaws in the software become known. The movie

keeps you on the edge of your seat,

as the plot twists and turns.

Not to spoil the movie by telling too much..but it's rather close to a lot more you say here.

To quote an anonymous friend, "as Ye Old FortuneTeller sez...if you

want to know the future just look at the present withopen eyes and

hey presto, there's the vision."

I am looking forward to seeing "Minority Report"

but if it is true to the Philip K. Dick novel, "A Scanner Darkly"

then I think I know how it ends.

Of course, I am sure the movie has updated a number of other

conceptual details to take advantage of the changes that have

occurred since the book was first published...1969 or 70 I think.

How are you doing? I hope that you have had a chance to get your

garden in and also have had a chance to just relax out in

nature...the weather here has been just beautiful.
