Guest guest
Hi John -- It's not a trap, it's a point of view. The point of view can be construed in terms of absolute being vs. total negation. It can also be taken as the general consensus of reality: There are things that continue (including beings, qualities) and things that stop existing. It's a deep-seated way of looking, that usually is taken as "experientially self-evident." This tree was here yesterday as well as today -- that's eternalist. My grandfather died and is no more, that's nihilistic. The way beyond the point of view of eternalism and nihilism is knowing that nothing comes into being, and nothing goes out of being. Nothing continues, nothing is negated. Sometimes, this is described as "eternal flux." But, there is no description. Any description is eternalist -- as if there could be a continuing way of representing truth through words. Not to provide a description might be considered nihilistic -- as if all meaning and description has no way to exist. So, we discuss, and our discussions move and shift -- and all is well ...
