Guest guest
Morning Coffee Sometimes there are mornings when black sweet coffee is the required drink. No, not a hung-over morning, but a morning when the soul asks for the pleasure ground of the soil and sun to water a remembrance of the way mountains and rivers and opulent rain forest feed through the arteries of stone and vegetation to be the aroma of our Earth mother. When only a clay washed in her hands and returned as Her strong wet kiss will do. This soul pleasuring is called ‘Kaif’ by the sons and daughters of the Heart. It is not just aesthetics nor an intemperance, but a refinement of experience into presence. Though the Mother gives Her milk freely combining body juice with body essence will spoil the spirit of black coffee. And so we should drink this morning coffee like the earth drinks water before too many flavors bleed into each other. The sugar is optional. However sometimes we must taste cane sugar if we have not yet mined our own souls sweetness. Like the tea ceremony. Drinking morning coffee should be done in silence and in deep appreciation. Why? Well how can you be a human being without being a coffee being or a being who drinks water from his own well knowing they are the same life flowing into life on the song of this river? Coffee is a way of staying grounded in the moment. The coffee grounds can be used as nourishment for the earth also the flowers will thrive and return the scent of your spirit to the sky like milk and honey. love eric ___________________
Guest guest
actually it has turned into a glass of fruit juice. I like the way this poems makes inner space connections. Thank you. eric Catching Up on My Email While sipping from the interface where bitter black espresso meets sweetness of whipped cream, And guessing just where might the mud blooming into lotus begin to change, tho surely some expert on roots would gladly tell us if asked? And wondering how many dedicated lives to make possible this moment - our casual discussion of miraculous truths, over morning coffee. ------ This is an old poem I wrote some time ago while drinking coffee and musing over the email lists. Guest guest
Dear Eric, As a lover of coffee, enjoyed your hymn of praise very much. As a gardener, was happy to see your mention of returning the grounds to the earth. Azaleas and rhodedendrons, especially appreciate how it makes the soil more acid. Hope the caffeine doesn't keep them awake at night, tho. People ask if it does any good to talk to flowers and plants, but it's far more beneficial to listen to them. Thanks for all your poetry, so good to have Robert back, too. Gloria
