Join The Party

Nothing is hidden.

Secrecy is a way of slamming the door

in Gods face.

Like a man who keeps a small disorderly house

we are always trying to hide stuff under the carpet.

Inside there are all sorts of wild times going on.

You know, all those sort of things

that break out by themselves

when no one is looking

and all jostling elbow to elbow in too little space.

Instead of trying to keep some sort of peace,

we are always at the window on the look out

in case all these secrets get noticed.

This is no fun.

When we remember God

we have to admit that nothing is hidden,

and that no one can have a good time

in a room that’s too small.

The heart makes space by being an open invitation.

If we really listened

we would hear the Universe knocking.

We would hear God gate-crashing,

and asking to join the party.
