Lets Not Make Amends

Lets not make amends.

Lets not sew together an other patchwork of remorse.

I would rather not be miserable.

I will choose not to be unforgiven.

I forgive my human face, hands, and heart.

More than this,

I will not join to you any part of me

that seeks its own death.

I will share with you this One Life.

I will give you this life,

for life is the only thing worth giving.

I will speak living words,

not an others dead words.

I will go exploring with you

and where we end up

will not be our concern.

Were we are now, will be.

I am done with all tears but loves overflowing.

Don’t ask me to cry on your grave,

especially one you are digging for yourself.

But I will cry with you

when a hope is crushed,

and I will push you towards an other edge,

and trust that you will drag me over with you.

And this trust we ask of each other.

I will trust you to fail and fail again

and I will not acknowledge it as failure.

I will trust you to be as human as I,

And still see you as my God.

Lets not make amends.

I don’t care for penitence.

If one day God drags us both to heaven or hell,

lets go there laughing and running ahead.

Lets be tourist in the playground of this world

and keep moving on together.
