Guest guest
8/12/02 "The Love of God" This afternoon Ananda woke up from a nap, crying. She said she had had a bad dream but could not remember what it was and it seemed as if nothing I could do would help her. She sat in my arms and cried, "Mommy! Mommy!" I started to respond as usual, with "What is it, Honey? What can I do for you?" But then it hit me: she wasn't exactly talking to me. She was crying the word "Mommy" in the same manner that an adult would cry a word like "God," only she was looking right in my eyes while she was doing this and my silence only intensified it and so what could I say? Not having the slightest idea, the words that came out were exactly the ones that were needed: "I love you. I love you, Sweetie. I love you so much. I love you SO much. Every minute I love you. Oh, Honey, I love you so very much." Then the storm was gone without leaving a single trace behind.
