Guest guest
Isn't it so? We never knew, but how could we not? At a certain point you finally just stop trying to figure it out, trying to hold life at arm's length, and then it just pours over you. There is no distance. Contemplating Mr. Natural's Baby Krishna as a pregnant couple stroll by on the arcing bridge over the estuary, remembering Adya mentioning being able to see the destiny of the child on its face at the moment of birth, understanding that finally, but wait -- that's getting ahead of this story. This afternoon Beloved waltzed us down Estadillo on our way to the marina, rather than the usual way, and we soon saw why – the park, the bandstand, the town orchestra playing patriotic tunes, everyone breaking out in song at God Bless America, Land that I Love….. We raised our hands in Jai, we sang through brimming tears, GodMind filled our every corner, the church bells chimed, chiming right across the street, the breeze arrived right on time, milk and honey light poured down through giant old pines and other kinds of trees we knew we were all part of, the children jumping up and down, unconcerned about war, lawn filled Jnanis and Bhaktis in beach chairs, little dogs' hearts beating faster than ours, no we can never catch up to any of this in time to imagine an identity, it's much too fast, we are transported mysteriously to the marina, pass a young couple at picnic, the man exclaims: "It's just perfect!" to his lover, we want to fall down simultaneously at their feet in exultation, but keep walking with the last bit of discipline we can muster, until the next conversation passes by and the boy says: "It's like waking up from a bad dream!" and we couldn't agree more! The train comes through, whistle sounding like the of course perfect metaphor – "I am a train! Here I come!" Before you can say vasana, a sea bird slowly lifts from stream, tracks gracefully to invisibility, we disappear. Breaking the silence we unanimously agree "This! Yes!" about the whole damn thing! Over at the pond shore all the ducks and ducklings were gathering for the night, but we saw two odd birds heading in the opposite direction, and we knew then that we would soon be following the emerging moon all the way back down Estadillo at the end of our Sunday Drive.
