Guest guest
8/28/02 "This Much" A friend of ours who came to town just to be with Ananda during the birth took her for the whole day today. Jim and I drove into the mountains and enjoyed some really precious time together. In the evening when we all came back home I was beat. Ananda went to the computer to play by herself and I went to lie down. Almost as soon as my head hit the couch I surprised myself by suddenly getting up. I found myself walking into the computer room and kneeling beside Ananda in the chair. She released the mouse, turned, and faced me. I said, "You know what? I haven't been with you all day long and I don't know if I've told you today how much I love you!" She smiled and said, "How much? This much?" and she spread her arms as wide as she could. I put my forehead against her little chest and said yes. She said, "Do you know how much I yove you?" I raised my head, looked at her face, and said, "How much?" She said, "You open your arms!" Doing so, I asked, "This much?" She gave an emphatic "Yes!" and then, with both of us smiling and our arms outstretched, there was only one thing we could do: we filled them up joyfully with each other and it felt really, really good.
