Guest guest
8/30/02 "Tears So Sweet" I bought a Barry Manilow CD because his music reminds me of my father. I had been saving it to play during labor in case I wanted to feel my dad with me but since I thought the baby would be here by now and the CD has just been collecting dust, today I found myself popping it in. With the first song I had a vivid flashback of playing ping-pong with my father. He had on a mischievous grin and during play he was saying, "Now, whatever you do, don't hit it off to the right!" He'd put a wicked spin on the ball and of course I'd hit it off to the right. Then he'd say, "Now, don't let it land in the net!" And then I'd hit the ball right into the net. He always won each game but every time we left the table and walked away with his hand on my shoulder I felt like a million bucks. [Oh my goodness, this sudden torrent of tears! My face is completely soaked and there are wet spots all over the page!]
