Guest guest
Dear Mazie, Just to lift a few tips of the veil on that linguistic discovery a bit: I found the logical, sequential and positional connection between our Western alphabet and the Sanskrit Devanagari script. I found the moment (not exactly in time yet) where an early Roman (?) Classical linguist came back from the East with early Devanagari script copied on palm fronds, who positioned the fronds erroneously through a lack of memory and lack of understanding of the logic behind the Devanagari sequence of sounds and characters. I found the logic and physical dynamic of how we in the West write from left to write and why and how some of our characters got a 90 degree rotational shift. I found the origin of the magical logo "AB®ACADABRA", which is different from the traditional derivations. Just like palaeontologists and archaeologist consider a "mound of refuse" or a "pile of garbage" to be a treasure chest of info about how older civilizations lived and what tools they used, I see in our words, our dynamic use of words and the manner in which we use them (our kind of messy way, like a pile of garbage) a treasure chest of info. The neat thing is, that in contrast to archaeological evidence such as broken pottery, bones, flint and metal ware from garbage mounds - things discarded - we STILL use linguistic archaeological fragments of the past "daily" and "lively" in our continuing need to communicate, overcoming our seeming separation. Through our current and active language we are still connected - and not just in memory - to our ancestors, the inventors of sounds and words and script, the sages and philosophers, the physicist and scientists of yore... Guest guest
Dear X, Thank you, for your interest... You asked: >...have you come across any striking associations with "doubt?" The word doubt of course derives from dubious... dual... divided (Aryan root DWA) to be at a point where there is a choice... a fork in the road... going left or right... Your typical two dimensional linear "duality". Interesting though... and here it comes: While figuring this out, I was thinking of Dexter, Lynette's young son. The name Dexter means to be "the right one" or to be "straight up". It is related to the Sanskrit Dakshina (which represents feminine divinity), "DAKSH" means suitable, fitting or even "clever and free" (two related words: clever=delivered). So it refers to someone or something that is right, fitting and suitable, "daksh" frees up... it is NOT the opposite of left... My mother used to say, "When in doubt, you don't have to choose between this or that, the left or the right road... Just elevate yourself, rise up above the choices and you will notice that both directions will eventually get you to the same destination." As in, "All roads lead to Rome." Doubt then is a situation when we are stuck in flatlander dimensionality. But... we can rise up... elevate ourselves... stand up on our hind legs... just as our ancestors, the first humanoids invented it. One does not have to make a choice when one has "overview", when one is the "episcope"... bishop... supervisor... No need then to be dubious... divided in the mind..., just stand up stand up for yourself... elevate and see for yourself... be your own epi-scope... So the word "doubt" gets us right back to the first humanoid who found a way out of doubt by straightening him or herself upward... to be dextrous.... straight..."clever and free". Very interesting...beautiful....your mother was wise indeed. Transcend the state, (rise up) where a choice seems neccesary..When in doubt, stop. Who's in doubt? Fascinating...indeed, it is...ideas, words... love Shawn
