Guest guest
Hi everyone: I have a perhaps different take on the discussion of learning than some. This is an excerpt from paper I wrote a couple of years ago. Memory-Knowledge-Experience-Subconscious-Tendency to Repeat-Drives- Habits-Automaton-Instinct-Hypnosis-Teaching-Learning-Suggestions: Memory is one of the five mental abilities. That a shred of the past can be brought into the present to be built upon is truly a phenomenal event in a universe of rocks and gases spinning around enormous balls of fire. It is the great achievement of life. Reproduction of course would be impossible without some type of memory. The mass of Knowledge each individual today acquires is available thanks to the thinkers of the past. With the memory of the achievements in acquired Knowledge of many generations of thinkers it is not necessary for a person to be terribly adept at coming up with new knowledge to have considerable conceit concerning intelligence.- Experience could not accrue without Memory. -Cellular memory, hormonal keys, and the cataloguing of events in one's life are all part of the Subconscious. The nature of memory is the Tendency to Repeat. As a mental ability memory seems to be something to be used or not. Used by Whom? Storing and remembering go on constantly. The Tendency to Repeat must go on regardless of a user because in fact there is no user. Subliminal activators that bring up the need to remember and then bring up an appropriate self image as a user making the memory appear to be at the beck and call of the Seeker are possible because of the ongoing operation of the Memory and the Tendency to Repeat. It would not be possible for subliminal activators to create subliminal activators without the automatic operation of the Tendency to Repeat. It is more convenient to refer to the Seeker as the operator of the mental abilities than to keep referring to him as a set of subliminal activators. Another term that is convenient is Karma. The idea of whether karma is good or bad is confusing in the light of all karma being something the Seeker needs to eliminate. When all is seen as the Self, no act creates karma to be worked off and no subliminal activators need to be consciously instituted to counteract negative subliminal activators already in place. The mind is free of the illusion that it is an entire self and does not accrue more clutter (Drives and Habits) to be eliminated. - The aggregate of these subliminal activators plus the Tendency to Repeat creates an Automaton, of which the Seeker is one part, ruled by Instinct and Hypnosis. A person learns or remembers something if the belief that it will be remembered is present. Some people remember things they don't want to remember because they are certain they will. To learn to be a believer in any religion is to be hypnotized. It is impossible to hypnotize a person to believe in another religion until the first one is removed just as it is impossible to make someone do something against their own nature.- One does not remember multiplication tables until one believes it is remembered. Suggestibility in a hypnotic subject means the person believes he or she is hypnotized. If Learning is being hypnotized then Teaching is hypnotizing another. Love Bobby G.
