Wim, did you look up "analyse?" Would you? I really do want to know! Wimji,

I think you're a mighty fine fellow and I was thinking about a painting I

did a while back of a ripe papaya. Since coming to live here, it has by far

become a favorite...the papaya...what about "ripe" and "rot?"

....and I was watching thoughts drift about ripeness and about how people get

ripe....about the wonder full smell that comes with a ripe fruit.

We say," boy, are *you* ripe when someone near is sweaty and giving off lots

of B-O.... how ripeness goes to rot and then the fruit,,..well just turns to

garbage and compost, perhaps to release new life from seed....in Saniel

Bonder's way of teaching, he describes the ripe person...it is a person

tired of his own game, rotting to himself...it is not a negative thing at

all, I see now how it is a truely beautiful lack of ...what's the word

impetus...yes, no more resistance, surrendering is the complete undermining

of all striving...even the act of attention seems so burdensome when there

"me" behind it...the relaxing that takes place...a squeezing between head

and heart a sweet pressure, my face feels like....I'm wearing my heart on my

face...I guess I can't con me anymore. :-) People get ripe.

I want to thank everyone for playing their part so well..hahahah

love to all,

Shawn

Dear Shawn,

I will work at this Shawn... but right off the bat I am happy (not sure if

it makes you happy) that I can tell you that "analysis" has nothing directly

to do with anus. If there is an indirect connection it could be as follows:

the Latin "anus" may come from the Greek "ana", which can mean "from",

"backward" or "without". Well..., anus has to do with elimination from the

back, so that solves that. (I have some 200 year old Greek/Latin etymology

books, they are stashed away at the moment... but I’m sure that I am on the

right track.)

The "lyse" part comes from the Greek “luo”, which provides the root for the

English “loose” and “lose” (the Sanskrit root is LU or LUS, loose). Hmm

“loose stool” maybe? :-)))

So “analyse” means taking things apart in a reverse fashion... Originally it

had to do with a physical procedure, like retracing manufacturing steps in

order to repair a faulty of damaged object or product. It is only later that

the word started to take on a more abstract meaning.

Ah, and Shawn, so nice your ruminations on the theme of “ripeness”.

That about BO... there is something nice about it... :-)

As you know, in India one does not clean the body the same way we do here,

the idea of hygiene is different... Now it happens that when certain body

bacteria do their work well, a certain BO turns into a smell of ripeness...

sweetness, fruity even... alcohol like...

(Interesting note for women, vaginal yeast infection is related although way

less comfortable...)

On the sweet note, .might that be the reason why some Hindu spiritual

masters smelled sweet?

Being the (fruity) one that I am, I actually personally experimented with

that notion:-) - oh my poor wife - but lo and behold... at some point she

actually said to me, “You smell so sweet... how come?”

I did explain...

It was a temporary experiment so I am back to smelling Western again...

squeaky clean...

>>>love to all<<<

Yes, absolutely Shawn.

PS.

Shawn, do you write to Valerie? You guys knew each other didn’t you?

Yes Wim, papaya farms even. But I must keep to my friends' yards or my own,

or otherwise in the wild.

A squeeze of lime and........wow!
