Hot Water

Tonight I sat in the bath for over thirty minutes.

 

The water was very hot and the air was very cold.

 

 

As the tub was draining, my head was below the surface, with just my nose and

feet sticking out.

 

 

Reclining there, as the tub drained, I became aware of the line of demarcation

between the cold air and the hot water and very aware of the intersection of

elements as the sensuous line moved downward following the topographical

contours of my body.

 

When the tub was empty........I began thinking about the line.......

 

Was it a thing in itself?

 

Did it merit a name?

 

Where was it now that the required ingredients were no longer together?

 

Could it be all "things" are this etherial,

nebulous, vacuous and fleeting as this sensorial ring?

 

Just temporal impressions registered by the appropriate receptors.

 

Was the ring separate from the body? ........or just another integral

interrelated oneness.........

 

and...............am I making any sense at all?
