Guest guest
I agree Holly that Jimmy is special. He recognized early on that we needed to find other sources of energy. I checked with a friend of mine, who is a professor of political science and he said (agreeing with Mace) that "Rabbit story" is not what it appears on the face of it and that the story was distorted and amplified for political reasons. Thanks for the comments about Christopher Hitchens (CH) Sri Bruceji! I still think Mother Theresa is special. It is often not clear what the facts are. It's not hard to pick on someone's life and make them look bad or much worse than they really are. People have even done that with Mahatma Gandhi (MG). I never heard any admiration from my family members (but a lot sarcasm instead) about MG when I was growing up. It seems to me that without the appearance of an ego in in MG or Mother Theresa (MT) or anyone else for that matter, nothing would get done. I appreciate what CH does in providing another perspective and someone has to do it, I guess. He does generally seem pessimistic and I wonder if he has any heroes and hope he does not drink too much and keep good health. I love your brother's painting TG about Elvis and Jesus welcoming Mother Theresa and Diana to heaven. Wow! What a metaphor for life and death and rock and roll! By the way for those interested in environmental issues, now I am hearing about hydrogen power (hydrogen fuel cells) more and more as a pure energy source which does not pollute... to be used in the future in homes and cars and factories, etc. I hope this technology does get developed soon. When emptiness is realized to be form, that's where the matter truly begins. LoveAlways, b

There can be no gradual, no partial, Enlightenment. The highly trained and zealous adept may be said to have prepared himself for Enlightenment, but by no means can he be regarded as partially Enlightened - just as a drop of water may get hotter and hotter and then, suddenly, boil; at no stage is it partly boiling, and, until the very moment of boiling, no qualitative change has occurred. In effect, however, we may go through three stages - two of non-Enlightenment and one of Enlightenment. To the great majority of people, the moon is the moon and the trees are the trees. The next stage (not really higher than the first) is to perceive that moon and trees are not at all what they seem to be, since "all is the One Mind." When this stage is achieved, we have the concept of a vast uniformity in which all distinctions are void; and, to some adepts, this concept may come as an actual perception, as "real" to them as the moon and the trees before. It is said that, when Enlightenment really comes, the moon is again very much the moon and the trees exactly trees; but with a difference, for the Enlightened man is capable of perceiving both unity and multiplicity without the least contradiction between them!
