Guest guest
10/16/02 "Dreams" Ananda woke up this morning crying from a bad dream. "Bodhi's foot was bleeding*," she told us, and her tears were pure as could be. Her dad and I commented that it was beautiful she was crying because her love for Bo was so big that it made her do that. The tears would subside and then renew themselves briefly while we stayed with her, touched her, and allowed the expression to flow freely. Then a shift happened where the look on her face changed from sweet to tense and the cries sounded more like they were being squeezed out than coming spontaneously. "Okay," I said brightly as I planted a kiss on her head and sat up, starting to fix the sheets, "That'll do it." "But I am still sad about Bodhi," she whined. I leaned back down beside her so that we were really close, face to face, and very slowly I said, "That is because you keep on having that dream again in your thoughts." She took a pause and then said, "I don't want to have it over and over. What can I do?" "Oh, that's the great thing about dreams," I replied, "They're not real, so you can just decide not to keep them." The next thing I knew, we were onto another conversation topic and she hasn't mentioned her dream again since. *We did find a sore on Bo's foot yesterday.
