Guest guest
He really wasn't my client. The other volunteer went on a surfing trip to Canada...... Ceasar Martinez....fifty five years old.....dying of cancer in the throat. Probably Agent Orange Three "ups" in Viet Nam....105 jumps. Bill, his buddy, would stop by and talk in broken sentences.......they were both paratroopers..........each had left half of themselves in South East Asia. The Veterans Administration wanted Bill to move to an area where there were very few people. He chose the Central Coast. An old Pitbull named "Sergeant" watches our conversation. A faded picture of Blue Boy hangs on the wall along with several quotes from General George Patton. Ceasars paratroopers hat sits on the television ..........underneath him, on the recliner, is a U.S.Army issue blanket. He talks a little of the war......then gets very quiet...... We listen to the cars that muffle the sound of the ocean. "I always thought you were heroes"....I say. Tears roll down his cheeks......and he looks at the ceiling. Ceasar died today. I wonder who he was........ Love Michael
