10/20/02 "Pause"

 

Both kids were crying. I left Ananda in her room on one end of the

rectangle that is our house and told her I would be back soon. Then

I put Zachary down in the living room which is on the other end and I

told him the same thing. Next, I found Jim and completely sank into

his arms, falling in love again amidst the stereo chorus of the howls

of our children, until the moment came when we chuckled to each other

and parted, renewed, with Jim going one way and I the other.

 

There was total silence within two minutes. It was striking.
