Guest guest
I don't see you dialoguing too often with list members, but more often making declarative statements like the one below. I'm glad you wrote this because it gives me the opportunity to observe that Harsha has become more "out there" with his opinions (since the the birth of his child, maybe?!), and I think this is terrific! I especially appreciate his candor about the whole spiritual scene. Declare away, Harsha. Holly
Guest guest
Dear Friends: It is my experience and observation that mature devotees of Bhagavan Ramana tend to be kind and compassionate to others. In that way, they are simply reflecting Bhagavan's teaching of One Self, Same Self in all. Sri Ramana used to say that compassion and nonviolence are the natural manifestations of Self-Realization. When we are aggressive in demonstrating our wisdom through biting criticism of others, it is rarely constructive. It is not easy to balance being true to our own views with minimizing hurting the feelings of others. It requires attention and awareness. Of course, I love a good laugh now and then, so I should not say too much on all this. But you get the general gist. To me, the great Sage of Arunachala, Sri Ramana, is truly beyond comparison with other Gurus. This list is dedicated to the pure teachings of Self-Realization of Sri Ramana. He manifested the radiance of the Self in all that He did. This is why I recommend that those who are genuinely interested in the great Sage read his dialogues and read what the devotees said of him and how the Sage lived his life for 53 years at Arunachala. If one becomes attuned to the teachings of Sri Ramana, one has found the True Guru. One may enjoy many teachings, but One who Knows the Self will never be attracted to anything other than the Self. All teachings and teachers are contained in that. Guest guest
Hi Harsha, I see others on this list dialoguing freely with one another... from here, everything is going very well -- the list is running smooth as butter in my opinion. I don't see you dialoguing too often with list members, but more often making declarative statements like the one below. This is not a judgment or a criticism, but an observation. Why not just join in the conversation and talk with us? Those who radiate compassion, and nonviolence will automatically steer the list in that direction... and I see it happening through genuineness, honesty, and sincerity, openness and generosity. Declarations of list direction and such... what effect do these have? For some reason I don't see biting criticism at all, I am unable to see it anymore -- it doesn't exist, there is no "real" ego apparent anywhere. Even in messages which could be interpreted that way, I see only the love underlying all communication. All attention given is love -- that which is loved by people is given time, attention, and awareness -- and what is not loved is ignored, dismissed as unimportant. Sunday I watched Meet the Press as is my routine. I always take note of the adverts on that show. The New GE ad was startling to me. For a few years I was involved in Brainwave entrainment. I ordered a devise to accomplish this, the "David Paradise". It can induce specific brainwaves on each hemisphere of the brain changing the dominant bw as you please. I became familiar with the feel of the different bw's. I considered it a part of my investigation of Raja Yoga. That said, I noticed the sophisticated use of brainwave entrainment on General Electric's advertisement. It was startling overt. A specific frequency of pulse is associated with each bw and the use of audio visuals in this ad produced a trance like combination of brainwaves. General Electric was one of the first corporations to collude to fix prices after WWII. They were convicted but not punished along with Westinghouse and others. It was called the "Electrical Scandals" but was mostly forgotten because of the McCarthy Communist brouhaha. Anytime abuse of the capitalist system was reported Socialism was screamed, much as people today want to perceive paranoid conspiracy instead of collusion by self-interested parties meddling in others privacy. The use of propaganda is not just lying. It is a great deal more insidious. I have noticed in the past these ads that use puppies and children as visuals while informing people about issues they should reject. Anti-communication or the blocking of communication is a pet peeve. I personally don't want to discuss corporate abuse because I think politics is off topic. Intrusion into the mind with these tactics is on topic I believe. It will only get worse. This new ad bothered me. Without warning about these practices and their effectiveness, people are vulnerable. The habitual capitulation of the unprepared mind to this kind of assault is counterproductive to becoming fit for self-inquiry. Conspiratorily Love Bobby G.
