Guest guest
When spirituality becomes a search for security rather than truth, a place to hide rather than to remain vulnerable and open, then it becomes destructive of its own aims -- an escape, a way not to have to think or face the (often painful) vagaries of life. Then divisiveness and violence become the operative means rather than unity and non-violence -- a recent example being the Muslim fundamentalism/extremism that has recently come to everybody's attention. In my opinion, this is a lesson everyone can take to heart and remember, as it can potentially creep up unawares on almost anybody. As humans, it's a natural tendency to want to seek security... let us remember what we lose when security (for the body, mind and what's 'ours') becomes the main focus in life.
