Guest guest
Cresting the grassy hill, Colliding with the infinite In the form Of a one-legged seagull, I stand and meet the eyes Of my brother Bandying about Beauty on one foot. But of course! I see myself in him, And he in me. Bantering with the breeze, Lifting off from some breath Held in check by the checkered feathers Of every seagull standing around me, Suddenly everyone lifts into the sky of longing. We are all here for freedom’s fall. Lost in the Kiss of the Sky breaking open, I spot the lone, one-legged seagull, Not by chance, Not by fluke or happenstance, But out of hundreds of birds, He appears squarely in front of me again. Staring with a peaceful recognition, I am stammered into stutters As a reed-footed coot Contemplates yogic postures offered By the seagull. Studying the stance, Standing and staring with cocked eye, The coot defies everything I ever knew about birds When he attempts and achieves The motionless, one-footed asana Of a seagull stepping into God. The initiation of the infinite is stepped-up a notch In the thrill of killing yet another concept I held as truth. Mere belief will not suffice in the night Of Self-Revelation Seen in the sundry assimilations Of seagulls and mud-hens Seeking Union by intimations of Love, As It Is Now. Unchecked by any hesitation, Reality resumes Its poised, particular position As I ponder the wonder of this moment Presenting in the form of a one-legged seagull, A curious coot, And a woman with bi-lateral Hip replacements. One Movement makes Love to us all. Motionless, we inquire quietly As creatures, not quite entirely complete, A Canvas of the Heart For Light Indefatiguable. Like the lifting off into Shiva, I liken the lifting off of the flocks of my friends With the lift leveling all concepts of limitation And leaving only limitless Possibility As Perfection in all forms of manifestation. There is nothing less than any other thing. Laughingly, I limp along and swing on the cusp Of eternity – Complete and Beautiful As I am now. Allahu Akbar!
